Getting It Out The Way pt 1

It’s been forever since I dropped a blog. I got some ideas in my head and some written already but want to get these next couple or few blogs out the way first.

When I was in the 8th grade, my English teacher had us bring a notebook to class to write in it every week. She called it a Journal. She also told us to write whatever, within reason. I had an ugly imagination as a kid but I knew there were a lot of things that I couldn’t write that I really wanted to. Like, the girls I was crushing on, cusswords and other random things I thought about back then.

I actually still have that notebook and read it a year or so ago. I wrote mostly about my friends, what I was going to do over the weekend and what I wanted(video games mostly. Was too embarrassed to talk about toys). There were a few made up stories in there but I didn’t read those. It was kind of interesting to look back and see what was on my mind. I didn’t realize that my teacher was responding to what I wrote until I read it last year. She sounded inspiring and interested in what I was saying. I never responded to her though.

This same English teacher had us write a letter to ourselves. It was a letter that she was going to send to us via postal service in a year from the date we wrote them. I was young and not really thinking how she might read what we said but I wrote what was on my mind in that one.

I want to thank my 8th grade teacher, Ms. Alkira, for having me wrote in a journal every week and actually reading it. I give credit to her for me liking writing today.

Sometime between the 8th grade n 9th grade, one of the Jasons(either the black or mixed one) draw a picture of a house. There with a door at the bottom of the crib. Then there was a u-shaped snow fall off the middle of the roof. The joke was, the snow was a penis and the door was vagina(I said penis and vagina, that’s proper than a mug, haha)

I tried to recreate that joke and show someone else. I saved the drawing and spiced it up some by adding legs, two bodies and arms. Then I started to add dialogue in. It was all sex talk. Once I filled the page up with naughty sex talk. I showed a friend of mine. It was some silly stuff but he laughed his ass off. The way he laughed, made me laugh.

After getting his reaction to the dialogue, I started to write stories with two characters named Boy and Girl. It was some pure x-rated, raw, adult type stuff(my idea of an adult anyway), cusswords, sex, just crazy talk. Whenever I wrote those conversations between Boy and Girl, I’d show my friend and he’d crack up every time.

On that note, I want to thank my B.I.P. brother, Mudbone GD Folks, for laughing so damn hard at my Boy & Girl stories. Because of him, when I became a senior in High School, I started writing a story with characters. Eventually I called the notebook that the story was in, The Green Book.

It’s crazy how something so little or one moment so long ago can play a big role years later. Neither one of this people know I still write or that they both played a role in it.

  1. That's really cool. I had a teacher like that, who responded to what was written in our journals. Every day we wrote for the first 10 minutes or so of English class. It was my freshman year at RTHS, and I'd transferred mid-year. She was really encouraging, and embraced my sarcasm. I don't even remember her name anymore, but I remember her voice and her face. She was amazing.

I still write, just not as often as I used to. I need to sit down and just purge things sooner rather than later, but I procrastinate when it comes to that. You should post a short story sometime for people to read.

  2. Some teachers were good teachers. They weren't just there for a pay check.

I've been trying to write more in my journals and more detail. It doesn't always work that way though.

I don't really write stories anymore. I mean, it's more of what's going on in my life or around. I started one story to blog a long time ago but never finished it.
