This era, early 90s
to mid 90s, was most definitely a good time for Hip Hop. There were a lot of
artist dropping around this time and some are still hanging around. There was a
lot of East Coast rappers out. Today’s music is very different but I’m not
going to knock it.
My Freshman year, Dr
Dre set it off with The Chronic album.
That was one of those
historic albums. Can’t really remember who else was out around this time.
During my Sophomore,
I do believe around this time of that year, I was listening to Jodeci’s 2nd
album.
Snoop Dogg came out
with his first solo album, A Tribe Called Quest dropped a classic album
Midnight Mauraders(sp), umm The Alkoholiks was out, Kris Kross 2nd
album. I want to say the sound track to Menace to Society was out.
The Summer of 1994, a
very very very very memorable summer and hella Hip Hop and R&B dropped
classic albums. Just off the top Notorious BIG, Changing Faces, Bone Thugs, Aaliyah, MC
Eiht, Big Mike, White Head Bros, ummmm Da Brat, I want to say Warren G,
Blackmoon, & Outkast were already out, there was a bunch of music that
summer.
Around this time my
Junior year Dj Quik’s Safe and Sound, The Luniz, Monica, Adina Howard, 2pac,
ummm, Ol Dirty Bastard, E-40’s in a Major Way, Brandy, etc.
My Senior year, I had
a little money in pockets from flipping them burgers so I was buying cds like a
mug. By this time, there was just too much music out for me to remember but I
was on it. 2pac’s all Eyes on Me, Eightball & MJG’s Sitting on Top of the
World. Bone Thugs dropped E1999 that summer along with South Circle, Dove
Shack, etc. Can’t remember.
A few months or so
after that Busta Rhymes album dropped, your B Boi was walking that stage and throw
the deuces up to the haters.
