An Example of My Ways

This past Christmas, I got the opportunity to play Santa’s Helper. It was my first experience to wrap gifts and watch some kids other than my family open gifts. One of the gifts I wrapped was a DJ Hero 2 Party Bundle.

As soon as a saw this, I was instantly fascinated by it. I have no idea why. Then when I found out it was like $25-$30 at Big Lots around Black Friday, I had to have one. It came with the Dj Hero 2 game, 2 turntables and a mic. I never paid any attention to this type of stuff before. I decided that I’d hit Big Lots to try to find it. I assumed that it was something only on sale for Black Friday because that price was cheap. I looked online for it and it was at least $100 or more.

I think it was the day after Christmas, I started my search around town for Dj Hero 2.  I hit Big Lots and found

I was kind of happy about it but I wanted the Party. Actually Big Lots had like 2 or 3 of these, $20 each but I only bought. I continued to look everywhere around town for the P Bundle but no one had it. I would call Big Lots every week to see if they got one in but nope. You can’t really trust folks to look around for you at these stores anymore, it’s better to go to the place yourself. I was kind of bummed about not being able to find it anywhere for a decent price.

After month or so, I figured the P Bundle was just a Black Friday special. I wasn’t going to give up on looking for it, just wasn’t going to look around as much. I was up in Gamestop looking around and saw a Guitar Hero game for like $2. Then I see another one for like $4. I started thinking maybe I’ll go on the hunt for the Guitar Hero and Rock Band bundles. Then I became fixated on finding these. I know I’ve saw Rock Band bundles around but now I couldn’t find anything. I saw one for the PS3 but I didn’t want that.

Here’s where things get real. I decided to keep my eye open for any type of deals on videos games. Even if I didn’t play it, just wanted to be aware of sales. If didn’t know anything about it, I’d google or youtube it. I’m all about getting the best deals.

I hit Ebay, Gamestop and Family Video up for games in the meantime.

I also found some cheap deals on stuff like

And

This Mayhem edition was like $99 at Best Buy. I thought that was ugly. I got a bunch of other stuff too but not going to post it all.

Like 3 or 4 months after I started looking, I put an APB out for DJ Hero 2 because I couldn’t get it off my mind. Someone found it for me out of town for $30. I also found a Guitar Hero bundle for $50 at Big Lots.

This is what happens when I’m focus on material things. I don’t stop until I feel that I won’t find it and because I want it bad enough, I never except that I won’t find it. I just wish I could focus and aim for other things as bad I would for material things.  I think it’s crazy but I got what I was looking for and then some.

The aftermath of this is that I’m staying looking around for Guitar Hero bundles, why? I have no idea. I still go to Big Lots from time to time to see what kind of stuff they got or have been holding out on putting out. I’ve started to look around places out of town too whenever I hit the road.

Have you ever experienced something like this?

Are you currently searching for something that you can’t find?
